About Lane Hopper
Lane Hopper takes the classic road-crossing idea and makes it endless. You guide a small frog across lane after lane of traffic and grass, hopping one square at a time, and try to get further than your last attempt.
Every road has its own speed and direction, and the gaps between cars are never quite the same twice. Grass strips give you a safe place to stop and plan, but the screen is always creeping forward, which stops you from waiting forever. It speeds up as your score climbs.
The game is drawn from scratch with bright, simple graphics and responds instantly to taps, swipes or the keyboard. You can even queue a hop mid-jump for fast, fluid play. Your best distance is saved in your browser on this device.
Tips and strategies
- Pause on the grass strips to read the next road before you commit.
- Cars in a lane keep a steady speed, so watch one pass and then go.
- You can queue your next hop while the frog is still in the air for smoother runs.
- Don't wait too long — the screen speeds up the further you get.
Lane Hopper FAQ
How is the score counted?
You earn one point for every new lane you reach. Going backwards does not lose points, but only your furthest lane counts.
Why did the game end when nothing hit me?
The screen scrolls forward all the time. If the frog is left behind at the bottom edge, the run ends.
Is the road generated randomly?
Yes. Every run builds new roads, trees and traffic, so no two attempts are the same.
Can I play Lane Hopper on my phone?
Yes. Tap to move forward and swipe to change direction. It runs in the browser with nothing to install.
